We are building a movement, not just a business—a space where people find the support, knowledge, and community they need to step into their full power and rewrite their narratives.

From Corporate Ladder to Liberation Path

Wow, me siento muy excited to share this with you!

This plan is not just a document but a vision for a new way of working and leading.

If we haven't met yet, I'm Miriam Araceli, a first-generation Latina femmepreneur. My journey, like many of you, has been a quest to transform how we work and lead. Today, I'm excited to share my first-gen Latina business strategic plan that maps out Thriving Human's journey for the next three years. I've spent over 10 years in the nonprofit sector, climbing leadership ladders and trying to change the world.

Last July, I quit my full-time job.

It had been a personal dream to create my own thing for a long time. Still, I'd been trapped in the belief that I needed to climb corporate ladders—for 'security,' 'prestige,' to escape poverty, to make money...because that's what we're all conditioned to do in this capitalist society. I worked hard in every position, giving too much of myself to organizations that often made me feel expendable.

As I moved into leadership positions, I was proud of my capabilities. After all, this valley girl from the Northeast Valley [in Los Angeles] had big dreams to help communities like the ones she grew up in.

But life had other plans.

The Dark Before the Dawn

It was a dark period. I found myself in the depths of depression, my job taking a toll on my relationships and, most importantly, my relationship with myself. I had unknowingly internalized the structures of the organizations I worked for, and my worth was tied to my professional life.

When you put all your eggs in that basket, everything feels like it's going wrong when work isn't fulfilling.

At that crossroads, I had two choices: succumb to the world or initiate a change.

Working with a Latina EMDR therapist, a first in many regards herself changed my life. I owe her a lot.

Creating My First-Gen Latina Business Strategic Plan

So here we are now—Thriving Human, LLC. A space of empowerment, healing, and transformation for first-generation professionals, Latines, POC, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and anyone called to this work. This is not just a business plan but a roadmap for personal and collective growth.

In typical manifestor form (that's my Human Design type—solar plexus, 2-4 hermit/opportunist), I'm informing you about our strategic plan for 2025-2028.

While prettifying it from a Word doc to Canva, I found myself questioning: What should I share publicly? I'm pretty transparent and may overshare (hello, neuro-spicy trait!), but I struggle to determine what to keep private.

The hardest part? Sharing my concrete numbers and goals. Because fixed targets mean the possibility of failure.

But that's precisely what this is about:

  • Trying and failing

  • Experimenting

  • Failing again

  • Trying until something works

  • Learning every time

Why Share It All?

I'm choosing to share this plan publicly for several reasons.

Yes, it makes me vulnerable, but more importantly, it creates space for connection with others who value transparency and are passionate about the process (and I LOVE PROCESS).

By opening up my strategic thinking, I'm inviting meaningful dialogue, collaborative energy, and the chance to build community around these ideas. This isn't just about business planning—it's about modeling the kind of open, accessible leadership I want to see in the world.

So here I am, writing down the process, sharing it openly, and collecting valuable data along the way. Every step, outcome, and response becomes meaningful information shaping this journey. It's all part of the learning and growth that makes this work so rich.

Am I afraid my work will be judged?

Absolutely.

But as Brené Brown might say, I'm not going to rumble with anyone who doesn't have the guts to try and do the same.

The scary part is that I'm primarily on my own with this. I have no one to consult or soundboard with—which is another reason I'm publishing my process. Maybe I'll meet some genuinely remarkable people with insights to add.

The other scary part? How terrifying entrepreneurship is when your money and livelihood are on the line. But I must trust myself, my process, and my vision.

I know that this is the most joy I've experienced in my professional life. Each challenge becomes an opportunity to learn and evolve—and this time, I'm building something aligned with my own vision and values. Whatever comes, I'm creating a foundation that's authentically mine to grow from
